Port Nikau: The Perfect Position for Cruising
If you’re planning to visit New Zealand’s northern coastline, Port Nikau in Whangārei is the ideal place to berth. Positioned perfectly between Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf and the Bay of Islands, there are endless opportunities for exploring the surrounding cruising areas and travel destinations.
Port Nikau Marina is made up of two floating pontoons, specialising in accommodating catamarans and cruising yachts 14-20m in length, with wide berths and fairways that make manoeuvring easy.
Port Nikau’s position allows you to enjoy the convenience of amenities without the busyness and city noise of Auckland marinas. In only 5 minutes you can easily find all the amenities, including supermarkets, pharmacies, medical facilities, restaurants, cafes, and retail stores that you might need during your stay.

Modern Berths
One thing that people notice immediately is that we’ve got space. The marina has 6 metres of depth, comfortably accommodating everything from recreational yachts to 90-metre superyachts. And with the generous fairways between docks, it is easy to manoeuvre and berth your vessel.
World-renowned marine precinct
Whangārei is acknowledged as a leading option for boat maintenance and repairs. While you enjoy your stay with us, you can easily tick off your to-do list with a wide range of skilled, experienced marine trades, with rigging, electrical, engineering, canvas, and refrigeration work just a stone’s throw away!
Visiting Co-Captain of Sea Eagle II, Tod Thompson said, “Port Nikau was an excellent place for us – it has both a reasonable degree of privacy/security…while it is also close to the marine sector of the city and to the central city itself. The Port Nikau Facility and Wharf we found to be very convenient, and a situation not readily found in other ports.”
