New Zealand Superyacht Berthage and Facilities

Port Nikau is positioned in the centre of Whangārei’s marine precinct, with a deep water marina located in the Whangarei Harbour, 12 nautical miles from the harbour entrance. Port Nikau can accommodate up to four superyachts, up to 90 metres LOA, with a newly built floating pontoon set up for stern to, Mediterranean-style berthage.

Port Nikau’s superyacht pontoon is the ideal set-up for stern-to, Mediterranean-style berthage and can accommodate up to four superyachts with a depth of 5.5 metres. Superyacht berths range from 25m to 65m.

H Berth Facilities

Port Nikau’s wharf facilities, known as ‘H Berth’, provide superyacht accommodation up to 90 metres with a depth of 6 metres. Shore power 250 and 125 amps hard-wired and high-speed fibre internet to the vessel is available. H Berth is the ideal place to set up work containers and has enough room to allow cranes for rigging work or mechanical repairs/replacements.

Wharves, Office and Workshop

Port Nikau has over 5,000 square metres of wharf space available to set up container workshops and service masts up to 60 metres long. A crew and tradesman lunchroom is available for visitors to use and there is a captain’s office available.

Superyacht Facilities

  • Marina access

    You will have secure access to the Port Nikau Superyacht Marina via keypad access at the gate.

  • BBQ area

    A barbeque and patio area is available for cooking and to relax and unwind.

  • Car parking

    There are parking spaces available to you free of charge at the Port Nikau Superyacht Marina.

  • Contractors

    Port Nikau can advise on qualified and reputable contractors and tradespeople. It is the responsibility of the boat owner to ensure that if other contractors are used, they are certified.   • Courtesy cars

    Port Nikau offers a courtesy car for quick local runs – ideal for picking up spare parts, grabbing groceries, or getting supplies from nearby Whangārei businesses.

  • Floating pontoons

    Port Nikau’s superyacht pontoon is the ideal set-up for stern-to, Mediterranean-style berthage and can accommodate up to four superyachts with a depth of 5.5 metres. Superyacht berths range from 25m to 65m.

  • Fuel

    Port Nikau has a diesel facility available on the main wharf. Port Nikau reserves the right to restrict access to other fuel suppliers. Fuel may only be delivered to vessels by arrangement with Port Nikau. A bunker fee applies – refer to the fuel supplier.

  • Haul out

    Our neighbours at Port Whangārei Marine Centre offer an efficient haulout service with its 100-tonne and 560-tonne travel lift, an extensive sealed hardstand area, and a full range of marine facilities. Harbourside Boatworks specialises in refits and repairs, yacht joinery, marine painting, conversion projects and insurance work.

  • In-water conversion/refit services

    You can manage your own in-water conversion or refit projects, or use the experienced tradespeople in the area. Find marine services in our directory.

  • Internet

    Free WIFI is available in the Marina Facilities. Details will be provided upon your arrival.

  • Mail and deliveries

    Mail delivery is permitted to our Port Nikau Head Office at:

  • Power

    Shore power can be provided to vessels that have a current New Zealand Electrical Warrant of Fitness (EWOF). Shore power 400 amps hard-wired, 63 and 125 amps plugged in.

  • Project management and vessel management

    Hire a professional to fully project manage your refit or maintenance work, or talk to us about how we can support you to manage your own repairs and refit.

  • Restaurant

    Looking for a great meal? Acropolis Café Bar & Grill is just next door at 325 Port Road, serving delicious Mediterranean cuisine in a waterfront setting.

    Important: Acropolis requires table bookings for all meals, so make sure to call ahead and reserve your spot.

  • Rubbish

    General rubbish and recycling are located at the Marina entrance.

  • Sewage

    Sewage pump out for larger boats is available from the Bog Doctor. Contact the Marine Manager for more information.

  • Showers and toilets

    Unisex toilets are located on the wharf.

  • Trolleys

    Dock trolleys are available at both facilities.

  • Waste Oil

    Waste oil facilities are available in the overflow car park at the Port Nikau office, 325 Port Road. Further details will be provided on arrival.

  • Water

    Drinkable water is available at all berths.
