New Piers Available in Whangārei
Port Nikau has dedicated piers for recreational vessels in Port Nikau Marina with berthage for up to 48 vessels, and additional berths for on-water maintenance at Eastpoint Marina.

Port Nikau Marina is positioned in the centre of Whangārei’s marine precinct on Northland’s east coast with stunning views across the Whangārei Harbour. The marina is located 88 nautical miles from Auckland and 12 nautical miles from the Whangārei Harbour entrance.
Whangārei has a strong tradition of boat building and offers top-quality services and experienced contractors for any refit or renovation work including engineering, electrical, sailmakers, hydraulics, mechanical, rigging, canvas and covers, refrigeration, boat builders and more.
Retail stores, supermarkets and pharmacies in the Whangārei CBD are a five-minute drive from Port Nikau or an easy ten-minute cycle. The Whangārei Hospital is a ten-minute drive and Whangārei Airport is a 15-minute drive.

The Port Nikau Marina is a wonderful place to berth your private vessel, whether you are based locally or visiting from out of town. The Marina offers full services to vessels, and our piers are newly built. Additional piers are under development, with a 120-berth marina planned for the future.

The Whangārei Harbour is suitable for fishing or cruising, with many bays for recreational boats to tuck out of the wind, and space for activities such as water skiing or wakeboarding.
Popular fishing and boating destinations in the area include Bream Head (14.5 nautical miles from Port Nikau), the Hen and Chicken Islands (20 nautical miles), and the Mokohinau Islands (37.5 nautical miles).
